A FORMER lecturer who pinched computer equipment while working at Kendal College has been sentenced for stealing from another employer.

Daniel Griffiths, 37, was handed a suspended prison term at Carlisle Crown Court last February. He had admitted stealing £7,300 worth of electronic devices from the college around the turn of 2016 while working as a music teacher.

Griffiths was also ordered to complete 240 hours of unpaid work and rehabilitation.

But he was back at the crown court today (THURS) having admitted stealing a pair of £329 headphones while working at an electronics shop, in London's Camden High Street.

Griffiths, the court heard, was seen on CCTV removing the headphones on July 22nd and later sold them for £100 at a second hand shop.

He admitted theft from employer and making a false representation, both crimes putting him breach of the suspended jail sentence.

Judge James Adkin heard Griffiths, now of St Paul's Road, London, had latterly been affected by homelessness and mental health issues after what his lawyer called a "most spectacular fall from grace".

The judge concluded it would be "unjust" to activate the suspended jail term. Griffiths was instead placed under supervision for 12 months, ordered to complete more rehabilitation and a thinking skills course. He was also give additional time to complete at least 200 unpaid work hours remaining from the previous punishment.
