KENDAL Athletics Club's ladies team was given a boost when international fell runners Rebecca Robinson and Sarah Tunstall decided to have a run out at the Mid Lancashire Cross Country League at Lancaster on Saturday.

The women's over 18s race was won by Scarlet Dale, from Hutton Roof, who runs for Lancaster and Morecambe with Robinson third and Tunstall, recovering from a chest infection, in fourth.

Carolyn Kevan continued her most successful season, not only making the first team, which finished third, but also heading the V45 which was second team and V55 team in first.

Joanne Taylor, Helen Barker, Helen Greenep, Sue Booth, Hazel Clark, Jaqueline Nowell, Paula Bowen and 1st V65 Dianne Priestley completed the growing team.

Imogen Burrows, of Helm Hill, ran a great race to finish as ninth lady and second U20.

It was yet another win for Rosie Woodhams, of Dallam School, who finished a minute ahead of the field in the U17s race.

Under 13 Sarah Smith impressed yet finishing fifth with Elodie Malcolm 19th, Clara Samson 30th and Rosa Arnold 44th making them third team.

A strong run was demonstrated from the U11 girls with Sophie Cowan in fourth, Elsie Barker ninth and Isla Ford 22nd - putting them as third best team.

74 youngsters ran the U11 boys race and the great packing of Louis Bigland (3rd), Jack Barker (11th), Alfie Addison (12th), Josh Todd (13th), Sam Greenep (29th) and Alfie Todd (33rd) saw them finish as second team.

With only three U13 boys available to race in a field of 60 it was a tough ask but brother James Bowen (3rd) and Harry Bowen (4th) and returning to form Henry Hunter (8th) saw them finish as first team.

The U15 Kendal boys put in a great performance to finished the third fastest team with Daniel Sanderson 6th, Ben Smith 15th and Josh Roelants 17th.

Border Harriers' James Douglas topped the senior men’s race with Alisdair Russell close behind in third.

Quintin Gratrix was 30th and 6th V40, with Will Sissons 45th and Joe Todd right behind 46th.

Michael Dugdale, 67th senior, was also 8th U20, Timothy Miles, Mike Walsh 7th V60, Steve Varney 14th V60, Dave McGuigan and Mark Walker packed well for 6th senior team and 4th V45 team.
