A 50-YEAR-OLD man suffered a broken femur and suspected broken pelvis after falling from a gritter lorry yesterday (February 28).
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called by the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) at 11.30pm to the man, who was close to The Royal Hotel at Dockray.
Three team 4x4 Land Rover vehicles attended the scene and they treated the casualty, who was described by team members as 'very cold'.
He was then transferred to a NWAS Ambulance that had managed to get through the treacherous conditions from Ambleside.
The rescue lasted three hours and was attended by 11 Patterdale Mountain Rescue personnel.
