SMALL change from Yorkshire Building Society members has made a big difference to pupils at a South Lakeland primary school.

Dean Barwick, Witherslack, has received a £1,000 donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation to buy new tablets.

The school was recommended by colleagues at the Yorkshire’s agency in Kendal, at Turner Scott Lettings on Highgate.

Headteacher Paul Macfarlane said: “School funding is a national issue at the moment with increasing pressures on dwindling budgets. Alongside this is the pace and development of computing, teaching a relevant and forward thinking ICT curriculum using up to date equipment is paramount.

“Our new tablets have provided a real boost for our small school in enabling us to provide our children with the resources they need to engage fully with exciting, contemporary learning activities and prepare them for life beyond primary school.”

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference® scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities around the UK.
