CHORISTERS, school children, volunteer 4x4 drivers, a church and a theatre are among the good causes that have been helped recently by the Cumbrian office of housebuilder Story Homes.

The nine charities and community groups that successfully bid for funding in the past three months were Carlisle Community Choir; Clifton Primary School, near Penrith; the Independent Community Autism Activity Network, based in West Cumbria; North West 4x4 Response; St Benedict’s Catholic High School, Whitehaven; Team Evie, a West Cumbria charity for sick children; the Border Kirk, a church in Carlisle; the Carnegie Theatre Trust, Workington; and the Whitehaven Academy.

Story Homes, which builds homes in Cumbria, south Scotland, the North East and North West, has helped 45 groups so far this financial year. Ian Storey, managing director for Story Homes in Cumbria and south Scotland, said the company was proud of its commitment to being "a good neighbour".
