A new BBC One comedy set in the Lake District and starring Johnny Vegas will be premiered in Penrith.

Home From Home, which also stars Emilia Fox and is set on a Cumbrian campsite, will be screened before an audience for the first time at the Rheged Centre.

The premiere will take place on Monday 26th March and Johnny Vegas will be in Penrith to meet fans on the red carpet.

Tickets are available through a ballot, which will close on Tuesday 20th March, via the BBC Shows and Tours website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/shows/home_from_home_26mar18

In Home From Home, Johnny Vegas stars as Neil Hackett who, alongside wife Fiona (Niky Wardley), has finally achieved a long-cherished dream of buying a lodge in the Lake District.

Their ‘traditional lodge’ at Lake View Holiday Park means everything to them, the years of scrimping and saving now feel worth it. That is until they wake up the next morning and meet their neighbours, the effortlessly superior Dillons, outdoorsy Robert (Adam James, Doctor Foster) and glamorous Penny (Emilia Fox, Silent Witness).

Strictly Come Dancing favourite Susan Calman and musical theatre legend Elaine Paige – who is almost unrecognisable as Neil’s fun-loving mum, Mercy Hackett – also appear in the series.

The premiere event will also feature a Q&A with Johnny Vegas, Niky Wardley and series producer Rebecca Papworth, hosted by BBC Radio Cumbria’s Mike Zeller.

Johnny Vegas said: “The Lake District is my home from home, and I can’t wait to be back there for this special premiere and to meet fans on the red carpet. I loved making the series and I hope the audience will have as much fun watching Home From Home as we did making it.”

Home From Home is written by Coronation Street writers Chris Fewtrell and Simon Crowther. The series was commissioned following a successful BBC Two pilot in 2016 as part of the Landmark Sitcom Season.
