THIS Saturday will see two Eden schoolgirls singing for a place in the semi-finals of a TV talent show.

Close friends Eliza Gutteridge and Anna Willison-Holt, both 17, have tasted stardom by making it through to the final 24 of The Voice UK.

Ahead of Saturday night's episode, the A-level students swapped lessons at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Penrith, for a glamorous photoshoot in Shoreditch, London, for OK! Magazine.

Dressed in high heels and striped two-piece suits, Eliza and Anna posed for pictures alongside three fellow contestants. A photo posted on Instagram by Eliza attracted 415 'likes' within 16 hours.

The friends have the same singing teacher, Barbara Gilbertson, of Dufton, near Appleby, who has said: “I am extraordinarily proud of Eliza and Anna and their versatility from classically trained singers to contemporary performers on The Voice.”

Eliza, who lives in Long Marton, Appleby, is on Sir Tom Jones' team. Her parents are Yvonne Eardley, an adoption and fostering adviser for Cumbria County Council, and Nick Gutteridge, managing partner of Carlisle-based law firm Burnetts. Eliza has older twin brothers, Olly and Joe.

Anna, meanwhile, is on music producer will.i.am's team. She lives in Great Strickland, near Penrith. Dad Andrew, a town planning consultant, is a guitarist, and mum Helen works for the CN Group.

This weekend's episode of The Voice UK is the first of two knockout shows. Each show will see 12 acts sing for a place in the semi-finals. Coaches Jennifer Hudson, will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs can pick only one act from their teams per show. The eight singers who make it through will be one step closer to winning a recording contract with Polydor Records.
