A FORMER nurses' home has been transformed into luxury apartments at a cost of £1 million.
The Lancaster property, at Pointer Court, was bought from the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust for an undisclosed sum by Barberry Developments, based in the West Midlands.
The developer created 24 two-bedroom flats at Bevan House and Nightingale Court, opposite the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
They are being marketed for £140,000 and more than half have already been bought by investors attracted by rents of £850 per month and a healthy yield, says the company.
Director Alex Watson said: "Having obtained planning for external improvement works, we have carried out full refurbishment and reconfiguration – including new kitchens and bathrooms - to provide 24 high-quality, two-bedroom apartments.”
He added: “They are in an excellent location, just across the road from the hospital. The market is really strong. These apartments have proved to be very popular with investors and we have been delighted with the sales achieved.”
