A DOG walk in Grizedale Forest will be raising money for Mountain Rescuers on Easter Sunday.

Cumbrian Cottages has partnered with Coniston children’s author, Fay Lakin, to raise funds for Coniston Mountain Rescue with the 2-mile walkies.

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Fay to organise this fantastic dog walk in aid of Coniston Mountain Rescue," Colin Eccles, business development manager for Ambleside, Coniston and the Central Lakes at Cumbrian Cottages, said. "The team is a voluntary organisation that relies solely on the generosity of the public, so we are extremely pleased to be able to support them in this way.

“Whether you have a furry friend or not, make sure you come along and join in the fun. What better way to spend an Easter Sunday and enjoy quality time with family and friends than some fresh air and amazing views of the lakes and mountains.”

Ms Lakin released her first hardback book, Wilson & Fay Sail the Wayfarer, last year.

The book, aimed at parents to read to three to five-year-olds, older children and even grown-ups, chronicles Fay and her Springer Spaniel, Wilson, embarking on a sailing adventure on Coniston Water where she lives.

“I am delighted to be arranging the dog walk taking place on Easter Sunday and raising valuable funds for Coniston Mountain Rescue," she said. "Colin and the wider team have supported me from the very start by placing my children’s book in dog and family friendly properties, so it is great to be working with them again.”

All participants to the walk are invited to enter a competition to win a Discovery Pass, giving them access to both Grizedale and Whinlatter Forest.

The Grizedale Café is also offering 20% off all purchases to visitors during the event.

The waggy charity walk will take place on April 1.

Those looking to join and enjoy outstanding views across the fells are invited to meet at Moor Top car park at 10am for a 10.15am start.
