THE woman who died in the M6 collision on Wednesday (March 28) has been formally identified as Sandra McDonald-Martin.
The collision occurred on the northbound carriageway of the M6 near Tebay at around 2pm, and involved a HGV and seven vehicles.
Mrs McDonald-Martin, 69, from the Southampton area, was a passenger in one of those vehicles. She died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a 73-year-old man also from the Southampton area, was flown to the Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Police are still urging any witnesses to the collision to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and ask to speak to PC 1439 Latham.
