YOUNG performers of a Kendal dance school have brought joy to the elderly.

For one week, students of the Dance Atikk toured care and retirement homes at Grange-over-Sands and Kendal to entertain senior citizens.

“Every year we get such lovely feedback from all the residents and managers on how they have enjoyed the boys and girls dancing,” said Lucy Everett, the principal of the Dance Atikk.

“We also spend time talking and sharing stories with all of the residents at each venue after we have danced."

She added: "It’s a lovely opportunity for the dancers to perform and to have such a wonderful appreciative audience.”

The dancers, ranging in ages from four to 19, performed all sorts of different numbers from modern, street and lyrical styles to song and dance with solos, duets, trios and group performances.

The tour has become an annual event for The Dance Atikk team.

“The dancers work so hard," said Lucy.

"I’m very proud of each and every one of them."
