To mark the 200th anniversary of The Westmorland Gazette in 2018, we are publishing a photograph from our archives on our website every day this year.
Today's photograph shows Bosnian refugee Fahra Japalack after arriving at Kendal's Howard Home in 1992, after fleeing bombs and and snipers' bullets in Sarajevo.
The 39-year-old said she could never thank the town enough for its kindness and understanding.
