THE 2018 Kendal Colour Dash again promises to be a fun-filled, technicolour family event on Sunday (April 29), from Kirkbie Kendal School (8am).The 5km race is sponsored by Anytime Fitness, of Kendal, with all proceeds to St John's Hospice, who support patients and families in the South Lakes area. This popular event sees runners showered with every colour of the rainbow as they walk, skip, jog, dance or race through the streets of Kendal. Early registration is recommended to guarantee that your colour dash bag which will be available for collection from the Kendal Hospice Furniture Shop. Closing date is Tuesday (April 24).

CLIMB That Tree is a brand new show from award-winning songwriter, musician and storyteller, David Gibb. Guaranteed to have both parents and children singing along, David takes us on a musical journey through his hilarious and often surreal imagination - where bears live in cupboards, wolves roam the corridors of school, and trips to the moon are a regular thing. This is a show that the whole family can enjoy, playing at The Brewery, Kendal, on Saturday (April 28, 2pm).

THE Settle-Carlisle Walking Festival (ride2stride) takes place from Tuesday (May 1) to May 7. It includes a gaggle of walks, from easy to strenuous, talks and music along the fabulous Settle-Carlisle railway line, which includes experienced walk leaders and speakers, such as archaeologists, authors and campaigners, who will share their local knowledge and love of the area, plus the pubs will be buzzing with music and song. JOIN Dales volunteers as they showcase the traditional craft of Dry Stone Walling – one of the most iconic features of the Yorkshire Dales National Park landscape. From the foundations of the top stones, during four short drop-in sessions they talk through the process of turning a pile of stones into something that will last for centuries. Taking place at Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes, on Tuesday (May 1) from 11am-3pm.

SWANSEA City Opera presents Rossini's most famous comic opera The Barber of Seville. Set in Seville in the late 18th century, a young Spanish nobleman, Count Almaviva, is in love with the beautiful and rich Rosina, ward of the lecherous Doctor Bartolo. Along comes the meddling Figaro, the town barber, and we have all the ingredients for confusion and mayhem. This brilliant opera, sung in English and accompanied by the Swansea City Opera Orchestra, is peppered with razor-sharp wit and a plot that's full of twists and turns. On stage tonight (Thursday, 7.30pm), at Theatre by the Lake, Keswick.
