DIVERTING traffic onto the A6 road through Milnthorpe when the M6 motorway is closed creates problems for the village, Milnthorpe parish councillors told Peter McCall, Cumbria's police and crime commissioner.
At the meeting between Mr McCall and members of Cumbrian parish councils, the Milnthorpe councillors said the practice increased congestion and "significantly increased the risk of accidents" on the A6.
A report of the meeting was given to Milnthorpe Parish Council.
