Marketing Matters
Get your creative juices flowing!
By Danielle Owen-Jones, director of Kirkby Lonsdale-based PR agency, Bloomin’ Creative.
We all know what it’s like to be stuck in a creative rut. You know the feeling – whether procrastination is the problem, or you just can’t put pen to paper without experiencing writer’s block.
Here are a few of my favourite ways to stimulate creativity…
Shake up your routine
Albert Einstein is widely credited with saying that “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.” Push yourself out of your comfort zone, switch up your usual routine – do things differently and you’ll look at things differently too.
Record your ideas
Ever woken up at 2am with a fantastic idea, only to fall asleep again for it to be forever forgotten? Always keep a notebook with you and record all your ideas – no matter how big or small.
Go offline
There’s a magic button on Outlook that I love. It’s called ‘Work Offline’ and it can do wonders for your productivity, as well as your creativity. Pop that on, switch your phone to silent and just enjoy being with your own thoughts, distraction-free.
Get some fresh air
It’s amazing what a break from your desk can do. Heading out for a walk will get your blood flowing, increase the oxygen to your brain and brush those cobwebs away. It also goes without saying that living in one of the most beautiful parts of the world means we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to walking routes!
