A NEW website that looks to curate a comprehensive list of eateries in the Lake District has been launched by a foodie from Bowness.

Sarah Elleray is the woman behind Fooser Food, a new website that offers a one-stop shop for diners looking for a Lakes cafe or restaurant.

A business and hospitality photographer who is used to snapping shots of mouthwatering dishes, Sarah saw a gap in the market for a site that offered a review-free list of establishments in the area.

"I was born and brought up in the Lake District," the Bowness resident said. "We're a very social family and we enjoy going out to eat and drink."

However, a discerning diner, Sarah had difficulty finding cafes and restaurants that she knew would fit the criteria for various different occasions - whether that was knowing the establishment had step-free access or offered gluten-free options.

"I said why is there not one website for the Lake District that lists all the places you can eat and drink and you can search for exactly what you want," she said.

Sarah, who is still running her photography business, said that there was so many 'brilliant' cafes and restaurants in the Lake District and she wanted the website to help people find exactly what they wanted.

She said she had spent the last year doing a 'lot of research' and putting in a lot of 'hard work' with a team of experts, including lawyers, web developers and logo and graphic designers, to create the site.

Sarah is now keen to encourage businesses to sign up to the website.

"We want the website to be as full as possible so the Fooser user's experience is the best," she said. "If you have a restaurant in Ambleside for example, if you're not on there you're going to be missed. People will pick from who is on there."

Venues can sign up for free but additional features are made available through paid packages. There is a 99p a week option and a £1.99 option and more detail can be found at: https://www.fooser.co.uk/
