A KENDAL man has admitted being responsible for a single-punch attack in the town - and warned he could receive a prison sentence.

Warren Lee Chorley, 32, faced one charge when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today.

Chorley pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Trevor O'Neill. He had previously denied the offence.

However, medical evidence, the court heard, had established that Mr O'Neill had suffered a "fractured left eye socket" during the incident on March 9.

Judge James Adkin adjourned the case and ordered a pre-sentence report on Chorley, who was not legally represented for the short court hearing.

Judge Adkin stressed: "That is not to say I have decided what the sentence is. All options (including a custodial term) are available."

Chorley, of Grasmere Crescent, Kendal, was bailed and told he is due to receive his punishment at the crown court on June 15.
