THREE friends embarking on a charity tour of Cumbria want to welcome everybody to their coffee morning this Saturday (May 26).
The event at the Parish Hall, in Kirkland, Kendal, will mark the start of the 90-mile run and 320-mile bike ride inspired by Endmoor teenager Alex Mitchell.
As reported by the Gazette, the 17-year-old student at Queen Katherine School, Kendal, was diagnosed two years ago with a serious muscle-wasting condition.
Dad Scott said the charity Muscular Dystrophy UK had given the family much-needed support. To say thank you, he and old classmates Dave Reed and Tim Noble want to raise £3,000 on their epic tour.
Dave is to run 90 miles through the Lakes, starting with Kirkby Lonsdale-to-Kendal on Saturday. Scott and Tim will cycle to the county's furthermost compass points, and the trio plan to finish at Gretna on Saturday, June 2.
The coffee morning is 9am to 1pm. To donate a raffle prize, email scottmitchell8@googlemail.com
