To mark the 200th anniversary of The Westmorland Gazette in 2018, we are publishing a photograph from our archives on our website every day this year.
Today's photograph shows haytime at Cowmire Hall, Crosthwaite, in July 1944. Crops were said to be average to heavy and the prospects were good if a week's fine weather should come along.
