A CLIMBER sustained a 'severe injury' to his left lower leg after falling at Giggleswick Scar on Saturday (May 26).

Clapham's Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) attended to the man at 4.29pm, who had slipped and fallen on the ‘Titter ye not’ pitch at Giggleswick Scar.

A spokesperson for CRO said: "On arrival, team members escorted the YAS (Yorkshire Ambulance Service) paramedics to the scene, and assisted whilst emergency pain relief was administered. The casualty was then splinted and packaged for a lower by stretcher to the road below, down a steep, wooded scree slope.

"At the road, the casualty was transferred to a road ambulance for transport to hospital.

"Thanks to our YAS colleagues for providing casualty care, and to North Yorkshire Police who provided safety protection for team members on a busy road with blind summits and bends."
