A FORMER sausage factory in Shap could get a new lease of life if a planning application gets given the green light.
The former Fellside Foods, located at Junction 39 Business Park, closed its doors in 2009 and moved its operations to Hull.
Mr L Proctor acquired the property in early 2017 and has since carried out some re-cladding and tidying up to allow usable parts of the building to be let.
The current tenants wish to expand their operation on the site but the existing structures to the north and east are inadequate for their needs.
A planning application has been submitted to Eden District Council, proposes the demolition of these structures which will be replaced with new modern industrial structures.
"Support of the proposals will allow significant investment by the applicant into the buildings bringing them back into meaningful use with associated enhancements to the overall appearance of the building grouping," states a design and access statement accompanying the planning application.
