BASED on the cult film of the same name, School of Rock - the Musical, students of Kirkbie Kendal School follow slacker Dewey Finn as he turns them from straight–A students into a head-banging, guitar-scorching, Battle of the Bands-conquering rock outfit. The play showcases the incredible musicianship of the cast and opens on Tuesday (June 26) until June 29. Evening performances at 7.30pm at the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal.

WOOLFEST 2018 - this woolly festival was founded to provide a showcase and a celebration of the best of wool and wool crafts. It is all about creativity and design, with beautiful quality, amazing colours and skilled craftsmanship, be it through knitting, crocheting, felting or needlecraft. There are a number of workshops and demonstrations throughout the weekend to keep everyone happy, in fact it's a great day out for all the family. MORE Music's annual kite festival Catch the Wind once again returns to Morecambe Promenade on Saturday & Sunday (June 23 & 24), from noon-5pm. This popular event sees hundreds of visitors descend on the beach area; from spectators and enthusiastic kite flyers to awesome professionals, who like puppeteers command the kites to dance, jig and soar, changing direction and height with a slight tug of the line. Also this year you can visit The Fishing Hut, a fun pop-up gallery in the form of a fisherman's boat shed, plus the usual fun activities, such as live music, street entertainment and stalls.

BASED on the popular book by David Walliams, the Birmingham Stage Company is taking Gangsta Granny back on tour, stopping off at the Sands Centre, Carlisle, from Wednesday to Saturday (June 27-30). PROM Art 2018 takes place on Sunday (June 24, 10am-4pm) at Grange-over-Sands. This annual event, now in its 13th year, is growing ever more popular hosting around 50 stalls stretching along the promenade from Bayley Lane crossing to the old lido pool. Prom Art is also proving to be a major tourist attraction and its ever-widening range of crafts on display ensures it will be a bumper year. It is the largest open air arts and crafts event in the North West. There are now five dates left on this year’s calendar – June 24; July 16 & 29; August 26 and September 30.
