A NEW choir is to sing at an Ulverston market stall to support Refugee Week 2018.

Staffing the town centre stall will be members of Furness Refugee Support, this Saturday (June 16) as part of Another Fine Fest, and on Tuesday and Thursday next week, during Refugee Week.

The singers, Rebel Yell, will be performing at the stand at various times.

Furness Refugee Support says it is proud to celebrate the contribution of refugees to the UK.

It helps struggling families abroad by raising money and sending clothes and other essentials. So far it has raised more than £10,000 for refugees overseas and sent two articulated lorries and more than a dozen vans of clothing, etc.

The next collection will be at the Friends Meeting House, Meeting House Lane, Ulverston, from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, June 30.

The group also helps refugee families new to Furness to settle in.

Its next fundraiser will be a sponsored walk on Saturday, June 23. covering the last seven or so miles of the Cumbrian Way, from from Gawthwaite to Ulverston's Market Cross.

Lifts to the start are available from The Gill car park from 9.30 am. ~To take part or give sponsorship, call Linda on 07748-970704.
