A NEW 30-space car park, with an additional two disabled bays, is to be created on land off Parkside Road as South Lakeland District Council honours its commitment to provide extra spaces, in the aftermath of common land at New Road being closed to vehicles last year.
An SLDC spokesperson said: “After New Road was closed to vehicles two new sites for additional car parks were identified.
"The council has since entered into an agreement with the ski club at Canal Head to provide all day public parking for £1 a day.
"Subject to planning approval, a new public car park will be developed on land the council owns off Parkside Road to offer additional low-cost parking.”
