A LANDMARK hotel on Morecambe's seafront is for sale.

Offers around £1.3 million are being sought for the Strathmore Hotel, on behalf of Shearings Leisure Group, the escorted tour and leisure hotel operator.

Real estate company Colliers International has been appointed to sell the 47-bedroom coastal property, on the resort's promenade and across the road from the beach.

The Strathmore is described as having "excellent public areas" including a bar, restaurant and "substantial" conference room, all with magnficent views across Morecambe Bay.

A number of bedrooms were updated in 2017.

Robert Smithson, a surveyor in the hotels agency team at Colliers International, said: "Although part of a larger group, the hotel is an established and successful business in its own right, in particular due to a recent refurbishment programme.

"Increasingly, guests are now deciding to make their own way to the hotel, rather than using the tour coach services, which is in part due to a rise in the popularity of this hotel among local clientele for a wider array of corporate and private events."

Mr Smithson added: "From both an operational and property perspective, there are exciting value-add opportunities at the property.”

The freehold Strathmore Hotel is available for sale individually or as part of a cluster of properties.

Other hotels for sale in the Shearings portfolio include the cliff-top Portpatrick Hotel, near the harbour village of Portpatrick, in south-west Scotland; and the Eden Arms Hotel, a former 17th century coaching inn at Rushyford, near Durham.
