WINDOW and door company Everest is inviting "aspiring" people to bid for funding to help "fulfil an extraordinary talent or personal challenge".

The Lewis Golden Foundation was named in honour of Lewis Golden OBE, a founder of Everest who died in late 2017, and was a war veteran, accountant and philanthropist.

The deadline for the next funding round is August 6, 2018. At least one candidate is chosen every three months, with up to £40,000 available across the year.

The first beneficiaries are four Oxford students embarking on an expedition to Greenland on June 28. They were granted £2,800 towards their trip, where they hope to create a geological map of Igaliku, South Greenland, and seek to inspire other young scientists.
