AN EXHIBITION of new work by one of Cumbria's finest artists, William H Jones, starts on Friday, June 22.
William's My Summer is a collection of oil paintings inspired by his love of the Lake District. There are also paintings of various subjects such as seascapes, local scenes, animals and still life. This is William’s first exhibition in his new gallery William H Jones Studio, at Fellside Farm just outside of Kirkby Lonsdale. He and his wife Bernadette owned Finestra Gallery at Kirkby Lonsdale until Bernadette retired last year. William said it had been interesting to decide what to paint for the exhibition as he regularly likes to change his subjects: "As a professional artist the first consideration is usually whether the painting has commercial appeal, and I now have the chance to get feedback direct from my customers. The ultimate goal though is to satisfy myself with the painting, and that is never easy."
Open daily 10am-5pm. Telephone 015242-71124.
