FOLLOWING the success of previous live music, open-air concerts which includes Tom Jones, Simply Red and Jools Holland, Cartmel Racecourse presents best-selling Irish band Boyzone on stage tomorrow (June 29, 6.15pm). The concert, held after the June meeting, will undoubtedly form one of the highlights of Cartmel's summer racing fixtures. Boyzone, comprising Ronan, Keith, Mikey and Shane, is one of the UKs most successful bands having enjoyed 21 singles in the top 40 charts including six number one hits. This 2018 Farewell Tour also celebrates Boyzones' 25th anniversary and gives the guys a chance to salute their pop career achievements with their fans. Advance booking is advised. KEEPY Uppy is all about the beautiful game, performed by tutti frutti productions, and written by Evan Placey, it kicks off on Saturday (June 30, 2pm), at The Brewery, Kendal. Joey is mad on footie, loves playing it, watching it and talking about it. He gets it from his mum - a footie fanatic and best teammate a kid could have! Life is busy for the twosome, but today nothing can get in their way as the big day has arrived, the cup final and a chance for Joey to score a winning goal. SINGLE Spies is a fascinating addition to Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake's summer repertoire season. Written by Alan Bennett, this Olivier award-winning comedy uncovers the true stories behind two notorious spies. Guy Burgess and Anthony Blunt were members of the infamous Cambridge Spies. This witty and compelling double bill, set in both London and Moscow, chronicles their lives, secret identities, police interrogations, and encounters with the Queen. ALSTON Gala 2018 takes place on Saturday (June 30) and includes a parade of colourful floats, fancy dress, a dog show, a horse show, Cumberland & Westmorland Wrestling, entertainment for kids, barbecue, stalls, bouncy castles, slides and live music. The venue is Tyne Willows Playing Fields, near Penrith, and starts at noon.

CUMBRIA’S west coast friendly neighbourhood festival of music Cockermouth Live is set to rock the town with an eclectic range of music from folk, jazz and indie to rock and classical performances. The event takes place from tomorrow (June 29) to Sunday (July 1) at various venues, including Wordsworth House, Jennings Cooperage Bar and the Kirkgate Centre. Headlining at the centre on Saturday (June 30, 8pm) is Dr Feelgood, who has become one of the most popular live rhythm and blues acts in the world. A MAJOR exhibition celebrating the life and achievements of climbing legend Sir Christian Bonington, is running at the Keswick Museum. The Mountain Heritage Trust has brought together Man and Mountain: Chris Bonington, to tell the story of one of Britain’s most successful mountaineers, and his inseparable links with the Cumbrian fells. For the first time personal items from the climber’s collection, which have never before been seen in public, will form part of this tribute to a quite remarkable life. The exhibition runs until January 2019.
