ROYAL Mail has revealed its ten "most scenic postal routes".
Among them is Windermere's picture-perfect LA23 postcode patch.
The company says it "scoured the length and breadth of its network of delivery offices" to choose the nation's "most stunning beauty spots". Making up the ten routes, in no particular order, are:
- Harris, in the Western Isles
- The Trossachs route in Perthshire
- Troyhead, on the Antrim Coast, a filming location for TV fantasy drama Game of Thrones
- Trebetherick, a picturesque Cornish coastal village
- The quaint Cotswold villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter
- Tresco, in the Isles of Scilly; the mail arrives by boat at St Mary's, the largest island, and postwoman Daphne Jenkins, 73, completes her two-to-three mile route on Tresco by bicycle
- Holy Island, Northumberland, where timing is critical due to the heavily tided stretch of water leading to Lindisfarne Priory
- Henley-in-Arden, in the midst of "Shakespeare county", Warwickshire
- and Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, home to poet Dylan Thomas’s boat house.
