NETHERFIELD Cricket Club’s second team lost by eight wickets to Blackpool’s second string in a rain affected contest at Parkside Road.

Blackpool, who won the toss and elected to field, restricted Netherfield to a below par total of 86-8 from their 25 overs.

Declan Fisher and Chris Baines picked up three wickets each for the visitors, while Frazer Kay top scored with 21 for Netherfield seconds.

In reply, Isaac Medhurst had initially dragged Netherfield back into the contest after taking the wickets of Tomas King and Craig Brown.

However, Dan Barling’s undefeated knock of 56 and Ashley Moreau’s unbeaten 28 saw Blackpool close on 89-2 off 14.5 overs to earn them a convincing victory.

Netherfield remain second on 90 points while Blackpool top the league with 94 points.

Kendal Cricket Club’s second team were also in action as they lost by two wickets to Great Eccleston’s second team in the Palace Shield Division Two top-of-the-table clash.

Great Eccleston posted 151-8 off 30 overs as William Turnbull top scored with 37 from 56 deliveries. Richard Dakin picked up figures of 4-65 for Kendal.

In reply, Kendal fell short as they finished on 130-8. Terry Hunte scored 43 from 54 balls , while Richard Dakin posted 33 from 40. Phil Booth picked up figures of 5-45 for the visitors. Kendal remain second on 87 points.

Netherfield travel to play Garstang Seconds on Saturday before they travel to Leyland in the cup on Sunday.

Kendal travel to play Thornton Cleveleys. All games start at 1.30pm.
