GREAT British Bake Off Winner Nancy Birtwhistle will be the celebrity judge at a celebration marking 25 years of Country Harvest, the food hall at Ingleton.

The Yorkshire baker, who won the 2014 edition of the popular baking show, will join Country Harvest owner Mike Clark to taste 25 cakes in a marquee on August 9 before deciding on the top three winners who will receive prizes totalling £450.

Nancy said: “People need to go away inspired.

“There’s no point demonstrating something that people are never going to attempt.

“I want people to go away thinking ‘I can do this’.”

After the judging she will demonstrate how to make an open fruit tart as she discusses pastry and cake making.

Tickets for the Perfect Pastry event at 6pm cost £7.50 and include a cream tea to enjoy while watching Nancy’s masterclass.

“We think the whole day will be a real celebration of Country Harvest and our 25th anniversary,” said Mr Clark.

“We’d love 25 people to bake a celebration cake for us.

“Apart from a size restriction it can be any sort of cake and decoration you like and it doesn’t have to be connected to Country Harvest at all.”

The winner of the first prize will receive £250 in cash and also be asked to create a special celebration cake for the business’ official 25th anniversary on October 20.

Anyone wishing to bake a cake should email suecountryharv

The cake must fit a board measuring a maximum of 12in by 12in.
