A GROWING team of engineers is proposing a move to Kendal's K Village.

Two empty shops have been identified by Curtins, a nationwide firm of civil and structural engineers, which has offices on Lowther Street, Kendal.

According to planning documents, Curtins' 19th century mid-terrace premises are too small for the 15-strong team, which looks likely to expand further.

Unit 24 at Riverside Terrace has been empty since K Village outlet centre opened in 2010, and unit 25 has been vacant since cookware shop Procook closed in late 2015.

Plans submitted to South Lakeland District Council by Curtins state: "As a retail and leisure space, the success of K Village since its launch in 2010 has been somewhat questionable.

"To ensure its future success, it is critical that both the owners and other stakeholders locally are open to all opportunities to encourage businesses to make use of the facilities."

As reported by the Gazette, a public consultation took place at K Village this month to show residents plans for a 69-bed Travelodge hotel at the riverside site.
