NETHERFIELD’S comprehensive victory over Garstang at the weekend saw the team within touching distance of the top of the table.

Captain Ben Barrow said: “It was a great win. We bowled first and stuck to our plan, and that meant we managed to restrict them to 60 or 70 under par.

“We were then very happy to chase them on a very good wicket.

“There were some standout performances. It was brilliant for Jack Boyle to get his first century for the club. We knew he had a big score on the way.

“He will be very pleased with that and it will be a boost for him.

“Marc Hadwin’s seven wickets were brilliant. I am running out of words to describe him. He keeps turning up and performing and taking wicket after wicket.”

Now second in the table and only 13 points behind Blackpool, Netherfield could take over next match when the two meet, should they win well.

Barrow said: “We are always looking for a challenge and I believe that we can beat Blackpool next week.

“They are a good side but I think that challenging games often bring the best out in our players.

“It will be good to get out there and see who puts in a match winning performance for us.

“We have been playing well lately, so I think it is a matter of having some consistency.”
