CHILDREN from Burton Morewood CE Primary School and Beetham CE Primary School were enjoyed an inspirational afternoon with two of the 'Ice Maiden Team'.
Earlier this year, the team was the first all-female team to cross Antarctica using only muscle power.
Major Sandy Hennis and Lance Sergeant Sophie Montagne spoke to the 65 pupils about their experiences.
Deputy head teacher of Burton Morewood Steve Thexton said: "The children had an absolutely wonderful afternoon. The questions they come up with were really quite remarkable."
He said the school was particularly keen to encourage girls to get outdoors.
"There is no reason why the girls cannot get out and do all sorts of adventurous things in the world," he said.
