THE recent good weather resulted in a very early Sunday morning walk. There are lots of lanes in the lovely Storth area so at 6am off I went.
I don’t like the look of litter so I pick up as I go along, developing a little story for each piece of debris from the previous Saturday night’s abandon - presumably chucked out of the car window, on the way to......?
An empty Lucozade bottle, a polystyrene food tray, used napkins, tomato ketchup sachets, empty coke bottle, etc.
Most curious of all was a paper record sleeve - the old type, single vinyl case with a handwritten note. Dave Clarke Five 1964 ‘Bits & Pieces’.
How very, very appropriate.
I popped it into a waste bin at the end of the road, humming on the way ‘I’m in pieces, bits & pieces.’
