As someone who has visited the Lakes for many years, and now a resident, I also feel very sad that Cumbria does not feel that it makes enough money from the tourists to be able to provide them with free toilets, especially near car parks which they are paying up to £7 or £8 to park at.

Surely it must be a human right in this country to have access to a toilet even if you have no money (or not the correct change).

By all means put a collection box inside the toilet but don’t force people to have to pay.

Thankfully I live in Kendal where they have a very good courtesy toilet scheme.
