THE Royal Windermere Yacht Club’s Robert Richardson took second place overall in the Rooster RS 100 Summer Championships in Poole, Dorset.

Hosted by Parkstone Yacht Club (Poole), the Rooster RS Summer Championships consist of four very challenging races.

Robert Richardson came first in two races, third in one race and fourth in another. This gave him an overall second place, just one point behind the winner.

Adding to the weekend’s success in this significant UK Championships, the Royal Windermere Yacht Club’s Nick Heather came fourth overall and John Richardson (Robert’s father) came fifth.

Meanwhile, back on Windermere there was keen competition in the Thursday night Dinghy Handicap race, with John Pawson taking first place and Amanda Wilson taking second.

The result may yet change following a ‘protest hearing’ over a port/starboard tacking dispute.

The Flying Fifteen fleet was as busy sailing one race on Saturday and two races on Sunday.

John Walker in ‘No Illusions’ took the first place in both Saturday’s race and Sunday’s first race, while Sunday’s second race was won by Frank Kelly in his ‘Factor Fifteen’.

Sunday’s 17 Foot Class race, which was also the Fraser Trophy Race, saw yet another win by Nigel Tullett in ‘Chameleon’.
