Lakes parish councillors are concerned that a planning application for development of cattle housing, manure storage and an underground dirty water storage tank at Thrang Farm, Chapel Stile is very close to the cemetery, which is a highly sensitive area for the 200 people who have relatives buried there.
They also fear that the development might impact on the significant tranquillity and views up the valley.
While supporting valley farming, councillors felt a compromise on siting of the development should be reached by moving it slightly away from the graveyard, and recommended a site visit by Lake District National Park Authority.
