SUNNY skies greeted the return of Sandylands Fete, the Kendal housing estate's first since the winter storms of 2015.
Residents gathered at the Friendship Fields play park on Saturday afternoon to enjoy live music, freshly baked pizza from the People's Cafe, and a dog show judged by Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron and Animal Rescue Cumbria.
Sandylands Methodist Church, which played such a key role on Sandylands during and after the devastating floods, laid on refreshments and crafts such as pebble painting. Displays by the Owl Sanctuary, local police and firefighters also proved popular.
Adam Edwards, of Sandylands Residents Association, described the community gathering as "a really successful event".
