A HUGE programme of events is lined up for this year's Ingleton Gala and Mountain Race as organisers hope the sunny and dry weather stays a bit longer.

Last year was a warm yet wet affair as the sun deserted the town and the rain fell but many still turned out to support the annual show.

Receiving the crown as gala queen this year will be 10-year-old Olivia Howson, from Ingleton Primary School.

She will be attended by George Bromley, Avena-Lea Oversby, Lottie Ellershaw, Maddy Baines, Amy Cooper, Isla Howson and Emma Hughes.

The gala is to be held on Saturday, July 21, from 12noon until 8pm.

In anticipation of sunny weather the organisers are staging an "It's a Knock Out" team challenge with an inflatable obstacle course for competitors to manoeuvre around.

A fancy dress parade with vintage vehicles and decorated floats starts at Ingleton Primary school. They will be judged for prize giving at 12 noon and entering the field for the crowning of the gala queen at 1.10pm.

As usual there will be children’s sports day races including the classics: three legged race and egg and spoon race.

Elsewhere there will be a brass band, bouncy castles, a dance show, food and drink stalls, crazy croquet, milking the cow, a family disco until 8pm and much more.

Entrance is free to anyone in fancy dress and anyone under 16. Admission for the over 16s is £2.
