A NINE-YEAR-OLD Kendal student has raised more than £300 for the hospital that performed her life-saving surgery.

Charlotte Edney, a year four pupil at Stramongate School, organised the pyjama day in aid of Alder Hey hospital.

Charlotte’s mum, Charmaine Armer said: “It was all her own idea. She saw the Alder Hey Inspiration booklet, and the idea grew from there. Charlotte really wanted to give something back to the hospital which has helped her so much. All I did was contact Alder Hey for some of their elephant collection boxes, balloons and leaflets.”

Charlotte's friends helped her by making posters to put up in the school, advertising the pyjama day and encouraging other children to support the event.

Described as a plucky and determined child, Charlotte joins in with everything that her friends do, including the school’s Daily Mile challenge, sports and various trips.

“We are very thankful to Alder Hey who have provided life-saving open heart surgery when Charlotte was a baby and again in January 2017," said Charmaine.

Stramongate’s pyjama day raised £362 for Alder Hey.
