A WOMAN was flown to hospital in a critical condition after a crash on the A5092 yesterday (Thursday).
At around 5.30pm a collision occurred between Gawthwaite and Grizebeck between two vehicles - an orange Fiat Sciento and a white Citroen Berlingo van.
The driver of the Fiat was a woman, believed to be from the Shropshire area.
She was flown by air ambulance to Preston Royal Infirmary where her condition has been described as critical but stable.
Her family have been contacted.
The driver of the Citroen van is a 32-year-old man from the Cumbria area, who suffered minor injuries.
Any witnesses who may have seen either vehicles before this collision are encouraged to contact PC2291 Wilson of Cumbria Roads Policing Unit on 101.
