A LAKE District hotel is adding an innovative twist to a classic British afternoon pastime.
Guests at the Waterhead Boutique Hotel & Dining in Ambleside can now enjoy an afternoon tea with a difference, thanks to a delicious selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones, all infused with gin and tonic flavours and ingredients.
The hotel, which is owned by English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, has designed its new gin and tonic afternoon tea menu with creative ideas from head chef Adam Graham.
Several local and national gins have been used in perfecting the new afternoon tea menu, which can start with a Lakes Gin cured salmon and cream cheese bagel and finish with a Warner Edwards Rhubarb Gin chocolate éclair.
The hotel’s warm homemade fruit scones include Brockmans Gin infused strawberry jam and clotted cream, whilst the lemon drizzle cake is frosted with Sipsmith Gin & Fever-Tree Tonic icing. Chocolate dipped lavender shortbread and thyme and rosemary sausage rolls also use some of the key botanical flavours of premium gins.
