A HOME owner is taking a "grand" approach to selling his Kendal apartment by knocking £1,000 off the price each week until it sells.

John Parker, who owns the one-bedroom retirement flat at Blackhall Croft, says it suits his situation to find a buyer as quickly as possible.

"It is already very competitively priced at £89,950 but if it means I have to sell it at well below market value then I am willing to accept that," said Mr Parker.

He said he would be prepared to go on reducing the fifth-floor apartment until it sold, but he believed it was already "so well priced" he hoped it would not be on the market very long.

Mr Parker said the average sale price of one-bed flats at the McCarthy and Stone development on Blackhall Road in the last couple of years was over £100,000, considerably more than his £89,950 starting price.

"You have to go back some three years to find a one-bedroom apartment that was sold for less," he said.

Blackhall Croft was built in 2002 and offers a shared lounge, laundry, guest suite, house manager and 24-hour emergency call system.

Mr Parker's apartment features a bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom, and is described as "ready to move into". For viewings, contact Scott Bainbridge on 01539-725496.
