DISPLAYS of falconry and traditional pursuits such as sheep clipping, poultry keeping and swill basket making will be among the many attractions at the Lakeland Country Fair, Torver, near Coniston, this Sunday (August 19).
The main ring is to host a parade of fell foxhounds and beagles, a tug-of-war contest between Broughton and Lowick Young Farmers, and a fun demonstration of dog training by experts Chris Mancini and Sandy Child.
Competitive events include a terrier, lurcher and whippet show, family dog show, stick show, senior and junior fell races, Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, a horn-blowing contest, and children's challenges.
As well as trade stands and fairground rides, there will be Herdwick sheep and Cumbrian fell ponies on display, and and a cookery showcase from chef Gary McClure.
The show opens at 12 noon. For more, see www.lakelandcountryfair.co.uk
