Racing - Knight ready to charge in at Cartmel

THE Westmorland Gazette sponsors the opening race at Cartmel's Bank Holiday Monday meeting, and the event has been split into two events because of a high entry.

Callisto Moon goes for the first division of the juvenile novices' hurdle (2.20pm) and has had some near-misses and preference is for NOTA LIBERATA.

George Moore's Spinning World gelding was rated above these rivals on the flat and should go well on this debut over timber.

In the second division (2.55pm) SILMI looks worthy of support. A narrow winner at Newton Abbot with the rest well beaten, he can take advantage of the weight he gets from Majestic Chief.

Other fancied hosrses on the card include PRESTBURY KNIGHT, aiming for a hat-trick over fences for Nigel Twiston-Davies in the Chas Kendalkl Handicpa Chase (4.05pm) and probably just a bit ahead of the handicapper.

MATT THE THRASHER (5.15pm) switches back from fences ot hurdles for Evan Williams and is much higher rated over the bigger obstacles, so should go well.

The booking of Tony Dobbin for Jimm Moffatt's THUNDERWING (5.45pm) looks significant, although his other runners Sea Storm has better flat form.

Prestbury Knight (nap), Thunderwing (nb)
