SUPPORTERS of Friends of the Lake District raised more than £11,000 following their trek across the shifting sands of the Morecambe Bay.
More than 400 people took part, from a very small child who was carried across by a strong parent, up to some hardened and well-seasoned walkers, and even a few four-legged friends who particularly enjoyed their paddle through the gullies.
Friends of the Lake District fundraiser Rachel Damms said: "We are very grateful to everyone who worked so hard to raise sponsorship. The Lake District may look rugged and wild but it is also a very fragile landscape and this money will help us ensure it is protected for us all to enjoy for many generations to come."
