ANOTHER successful flower and vegetable show was hosted by the Kirkby Lonsdale Gardening Association.

It highlighted the passion, skills and knowledge of exhibitors who displayed their horticultural and home industries handiwork.

Show secretary Rosalind Buckland said: "We were concerned that the hot summer might impact on the vegetables and flowers, however we need not have worried as the standard was as high as ever."

There were 509 exhibits in the Lunesdale Hall - an increase of 106 on last year.

Members of the public turned out in droves to see the spectacular display of flowers, vegetables, home-baking, handicrafts, painting and photography in both the adult and children’s classes.

Association president Elizabeth Muirhead said she was delighted the event continues to generate so much interest from the local and wider community.
