YEAR 6 leavers at St Cuthbert’s Primary School in Windermere were thrilled to receive signed copies of a book written by a double Olympic gold rower.

Alex Gregory made a return visit to the school to give pupils their very own signed copies of his book 'Dadventures.' He visited last year as part of the school’s cross Channel rowing challenge.

Head teacher Peter Harrison wanted the leavers to have a gift as they move on to their own adventures in their chosen secondary schools.

"Alex is an inspirational person to young people and adults alike," said Mr Harrison. "He has spread his wings from sport to writing and written this book which I believe every family should have a copy of.

"It inspires children and adults in every kind of family to be adventurous and love the outdoors together.

"Personal messages were also written by Alex to the children and their astounded facial expressions demonstrated how special this book will be to them for many years to come.

"Alex has been a good friend to the school, a true gentleman."’

The book ‘Dadventures’ is published by HarperCollins and as the children and families will testify, is worth every penny for the ideas and enjoyment it will provide.
