KENDAL’S Christmas lights switch on will go ahead this year despite concerns over the loss of a key supporting group.
A meeting of Kendal Town Council’s Christmas Lights and Festivals Committee heard that Global, who took over Lakeland Radio in March, confirmed it was unable to provide a stage for this year's event but still wanted to be involved.
Councillors also heard that the Westmorland Shopping Centre and Elephant Yard would not be providing sponsorship but the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal, and the Lancastrian Estates had since stepped in.
The meeting agreed that given the current confirmed budget the event would go ahead again near the Christmas tree in Market Place.
